About Ebon

Ebon’s photography is conceptually diverse with themes ranging from Debord’s ‘Society of the Spectacle’ and Plato’s forms to personal, metaphorical imagery. An example of the latter is "Parable of the Cowboy", a visual allegory of heroin addiction in which the relationship between cowboys and horses at a rodeo represents the illusion of control, the rush followed by the inevitable decline [and rise]. Although interest varies from the sociological and philosophical to the intense and personal a common theme throughout Ebon’s photography is descent of both the social and psychological nature.

Whilst previously primarily concerned with conceptual elements Ebon is currently experimenting with techniques including chiaroscuro, exposure, movement etc. Although this is apparent in her most recent portraits Ebon intends to experiment with the unconventional use of the technical aspect of photography and printing to develop an abstract and figurative aesthetic that explores the subconscious through symbolic imagery reminiscent of expressionist painting as opposed to polished and stylized photography.

Ebon began taking photographs 3 years ago [ironically due to loosing the sight in one eye] and is currently in 2nd year, Bachelor of Fine Art Photography. R.M.I.T University, Melbourne, Australia. Ebon can be contacted here. Prints are for sale,- price negotiable.
